Dilution of solutions

Online calculator for calculating solution concentration after adding a solvent.
Concentration — is a quantity characterizing the quantitative composition of a solution.
As a result of the solution, a homogeneous mixture of two or more substances is obtained, which can be solids, liquids, gases, or their combinations. The solvent can dissolve other substances.

Formula:

Volume after dilution (V2) = [(V1 * M1) / M2]

Volume of added solvent during dilution (V) = (V2 — V1)

Where,

  • V1 = volume of solution before dilution
  • V2 = volume of solution after dilution
  • M1 = Concentration before dilution
  • M2 = concentration after dilution

Volume before dilution (V1)  L
Concentration before dilution (M1)  Mol/L
Concentration after dilution (M2)  Mol/L
Volume after dilution (V2) L
